We at ReverseEngineering.com are always up for a challenge, especially when our software can contribute to the safety of athletes. When Schutts Sports approached us about assisting them in a large endeavor to overhaul and revamp their entire line of helmets and faceguards, we were in.

In response to a growing body of scientific studies that have revealed long term brain damage among pro-football players, Schutts Sports was determined to upgrade their helmet design. To get started, they needed to accurately map their existing helmets into a 3D CAD. Not so easy to do with a bumpy, odd-shaped thing like a helmet.

Having your head in the clouds can be a good thing for Reverse Engineering applications.

When looking at the bigger picture, the first thought that comes to mind is cloud computing.

With every challenge there is opportunity.  Today’s economic struggles certainly have us all looking for the opportunity to help survive the immediate economic challenges we are all being faced with.

Replacing new parts instead of buying new machines has been an age old source of finding a way to positively affect the bottom line.  The general question these days is not “should I repair it” but “how can I repair it quicker and more accurately”.

HighRES Readies for 64-bit Release on All FARO 3D Portable Measuring Devices

The HighRES 2011 software has been shipping to beta test users for the last 3 months.  Excitement draws near to launch the bi-directional 32-bit AND 64-bit reverse engineering software in November 2010 for FARO portable measuring devices.

Managing a complete reverse engineering solution involves several components of 3rd party hardware and software.  One of the biggest challenges is maintaining compatibility with the fast pace of technological advancements.
